ilver Wheel by Laura Powers
My Friend You have given me courage That was not there You have given laughter That I can share You have given me feelings That are deep and true For that my friend I will always love you
When the cold world shivers And the north wind moans Soon the solstice brings Ice to its dark throne Watch the silver wheel turn round Spinning cold and quiet Casting fields of grey and brown In a world of white
Born under a sky of night Born with hearts of yearning Maiden, mother, crone will cry As the wheel keeps turning As the earth laying sleeping Deep in winter's dream Soon a kiss of sun Warms the fields to green
Watch the silver wheel turn round Spinning sun and rain Melting all the ice away Bringing warmth and life again
Born into a dance of spring Born with hearts of yearning Maiden, mother, crone will sing As the wheel keeps turning
May your dreams bring you peace As your soul finds release When you fly from this realm You will always be with me
he weave of the universal tapestry brings those together that need to be. In the business of calligraphy, Joan was that one strand of my part of the fabric that showed me me the way. She was a mentor, a friend, and a kindred spirit. It was her that paved the way for me to become a professional artist. It was her who spoke the truth about my work so I could do naught but improve it. It was her who I found to share the belief in the loom we rode together. Whether by choice, fate, or destiny - we were linked and for it I am grateful. I will miss her dearly. She will not be gone long, this I know. Just mere moments to catch her breath and visit with her beloved husband and friend. She will return to help the next string in this precious weave we love so dearly.
